Also, it appears last week's upload was deleted from MegaUpload. I find it hard to believe these sites are cracking down on uploads (especially when all that the file contains is an English translation), considering all the manga scanlations that go up on them. I think some who doesn't have anything better to do must be reporting these links as copyright violations.

So I'm wondering if I should continue doing Fairy Tail. The reason I started this is that there was no decently fast group with good a/v quality. Ryugan's audio was cruddy (96 kbps), KSH-IEA's audio was cruddy (128 kbps mp3), and everyone else was just slow and using hardsubs. There are two things to note now:

1. As of episode 34, Ryugan upped the bitrate of their audio to 128 kbps aac. Still not great, but better.

2. Kyuubi has caught up and is releasing fast. They do not re-compress the audio on their version, so that's a plus. They use hardsubs and mp4 which is a minus, they have slightly more artifacts on their version than the Zero-Raws raw. They also have no chapters.

Opinions? Should I continue or leave it up to other groups since there are some decent groups now? Thanks!

The raw was pretty bad this week, it was from TV Tokyo, not Zero-Raws' normal source (I also had to split the commercials out...). It has the interlacing issues I mentioned last week. If a better raw comes out I'll do a v2.

Also, no preview as the raw didn't have one.

I tried doing my own encode from a transport stream which would have reduced a lot on compression artifacts (these RAW groups don't use great quality settings for h264 encoding), but the interlacing was pretty wacky on the ts from TV Tokyo. IVTCing the TS didn't work correctly, there were lots of interlacing issues after (and megui couldn't even figure out the source type). I gave up and just went with the Zero-Raws version (which was not from TV-Tokyo).

Update on the Sacred Blacksmith

Episode 5 has one scene which needs censoring, I'm waiting for someone to release raws with FLAC audio before I release. Episode 3, 4, and 6 need no censoring that I could see.


DmonHiro has released Eps 3-6 (AAC audio only)
Episodes 2-4 (uncheck ep 2 if you only want 3 and 4).

FLAC audio can be grabbed for eps 3 and 4 from these raws.

You need to put a 20 MS delay on the audio for ep3 and a 570 MS delay on the audio for ep4 if you want to mux it in (using mkvmerge, on the 'Format Specific Options' tab).. I'm not really sure why it isn't correctly synced....

The Sacred Blacksmith 01-02 BD w/TV Censors

I'm a quality fanatic, but I also don't want to watch any nudity. This presents a dilemma... for example the Blu-Ray version of The Sacred Blacksmith has scenes which were censored in the TV version, but not in the Blu-Ray version. All of a sudden it occurred to me... why not replace those scenes on the Blu-Ray version with the scenes from the TV version?

As a result I re-encoded the release (linked at the bottom of this post) to have the TV censored version for the uncensored scenes. This amounts to about 2 seconds of video for each episode. It was just the video that was changed, not the audio. I upscaled the HDTV (MX rips) to 1080p using lanczos resizing. It doesn't look as good as the rest of the video... but as I said it's only about 2 seconds. There is an extremely minor quality loss from re-encoding the video, but it shouldn't be noticeable (SSIM mean is within 99.4%).

For those wondering, the censors are at:
Episode 1, 14:37 (where Cecily tells Luke she wants him to look at her)
Episode 2, 8:26 (where Cecily's Breastplate cracks off)
